Burano (Buràn /bu'ran/ in Veneto) è un'isola (o meglio, un insieme di isole) di 2.724 abitanti della laguna di Venezia settentrionale, su cui sorge l'omonimo abitato, località del comune di Venezia.
È collegata da un ponte all'isola di Mazzorbo che ne è divenuta una sorta di appendice.
È nota per le sue tipiche case vivacemente colorate, ma anche per la secolare lavorazione artigianale dei merletti e per le tradizioni gastronomiche (tipici dolci sono i bussolai).
Burano appartiene alla municipalità di Venezia-Murano-Burano. Fino al 2005 l'ex quartiere Burano comprendeva, oltre a Burano, Torcello, Mazzorbetto, Mazzorbo oltre a isole minori. (fonte Wikipedia)

Burano is an island in the Venetian Lagoon northern Italy; like Venice itself, it could more correctly be called an archipelago of four islands linked by bridges. It is situated near Torcello at the northern end of the Lagoon, and is known for its and brightly coloured homes.
I have spent so much time in Venice, and loved visiting Burano with all it's quaint looking houses and not to mention the wonderful food.
